Help with extending the internet range for online gaming in my case
I’m currently sharing house with others for cheaper rent and want to extend the range of internet without interfering with the modern.

The problem is that owner of the house doesn’t offer a way to connect ethernet cable to upstair. Is there way to do extend range of the internet from my case?

how far are you from the router?

lots of stuff can interfere with wifi
2.4ghz has a lower freq and can travel farther distances and better through walls
5ghz is better for short range, and fewer devices interfere with it

if you are more than 30ft away, use 2.4ghz channels

if you are 50+ft, get a 2nd router and config it as a wifi client/bridge (not ap or router)
then plug your wired devices into it

get a Wi Fi extender

is it a desktop pc, laptop?

if its a desktop or laptop, check the mobo, if it has a m.2 e key slot (for wifi nic), or a free pci-e slot

most pci-e wifi nics use a m.2 slot adapter for m.2 wifi/bt card that can work on mobo m.2 e key or in a laptop

with external antennas helps alot, since pc case will block rf
for pc get something like this

Yes, wifi extender would work. Set it up somewhere halfway between your computer and router. Many of them have ethernet input too which would give an even better connection if you can run a cable.

Which one should i get? What is about the new mesh wifi thingy currently?

You d still need a cable for the main node

If the router supports Wi fi easy mesh you can go without a cable

Mesh WiFi is a level up from extenders.
You have two or more nodes across the house acting as a single WiFi router with the same name and password. Feels like you have a good signal everywhere without a need to switch between networks.
It’s generally multiple times more expensive solution than extenders but more convenient.

For gaming I would do my best to get wired connection. Even if I had to order my own broadband to my room if I was living in a shared house.
Or get a cheap extender if it’s just to download single player games.

I disagree a new wifi 6 or 7 router will give you tonnes of coverage and you get better speed. Plus a exyender is a pain in the butt to setup espacially novices

Find out what network card shes got then decide
