[UK] Desktop PC Buying Advice
Looking for advice for a desktop PC for my son, our budget is around £800, but might be able to push to £1000 if needed for the right system. He says he would like to play Microsoft Flight Simulator on top of Fortnite, which will push the spec rquirements up.

I found the system below that looks ok but as I haven't kept up to date with PC specs for about 15 years, I wouldn't know what to compare it to. I'm not against building it myself if it's cheaper but wouldn't want to risk missing something off.

Ultra 85 Black Friday Gaming PC [www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk]

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

CPU - £120
Mobo - £75
Case - £40
RAM - £200 (it's very expensive right now)
PSU - £50 MSI MAG bronze
GPU - £230
Total - £715

You can build your own and save money for better parts, the main problem right now is getting hold of the ram, it's expensive right now or has a long wait time for delivery, 3 to 6 months. If you're willing to wait for ram prices to come down, you can knock £100 off the price.

You can also look on used websites (the good ones) for used computers within the specs you'd like. There are always good deals here and there.
I recently built a PC for my kid. MB, CPU and RAM were from wallapop (I know, not a great website but if you know how to navigate it's OK), GPU from a local used shop (with warranty) and the rest new from amazon.
You can also check Cex (we have them here but don't know how good or how bad it is in the UK).

The computer you listed is a solid build, maybe a tad over priced, but I am not aware of the UK pricing these days (plus RAM is crazy expensive these days).
However, chose your seller more than your product, that is my creed.

From those specs here is my opinion:

RAM should be 6000Mhz or better and brand is not known
MB is weak. Should be a B650 at least (IMO)
CPU is OK (for the price), but I have that CPU cooler and it's noisy.
I have the 5060. Some people will say you should get a 5060Ti at best. I have a 5060 and I'm good, but kids...
m.2 SSD is OK size and brand. You may need to get a m.2 heatsink if it's not included
PSU should be enough power, but check it's a good brand. Prebuilds aften come with ratty PSUs

Don't trust the photos on the listings. I think the only thing you can trust in those is the case. It shows different configurations, more fans, wrong MB, AIO cooling that is not in the listing.

Also, I recently built a PC by parts. I got a cheap case and it came with 4 fans. Basically the fans are useless... They aren't pwm and can't be controlled, so they run at top speed. But even with that the case was cheap. Already got 6 new pwm fans and a pwm fan hub.

My local computer store (chain store but actually nice) let's you choose all the parts and they build it themselves. However, the last PC I got there, they forgot to activate XMP on the bios and the good and fast memory I bought was running slow.
