Yes just like AMD says all their GPU prices will now go back up due to higher prices when it comes to things like RAM chips, such as the VRAM chips and how this would increase the costs of newly manufactured GPUs.

For DDR5 to get hiked that much.... no this is a cooperation effect of scamming us all for profits. Nothing more. AI server clusters would not be using those RAM. Your merchants are simply jumping onboard the excuses train

Might be time to do some RAM scalping, cash in when all the cheap RAM is gone.

Retailers are scalping just like the covid gpu they are addicted now to crisis profiteering. It works because some saddo will cry and pay 400 for ram and then moan about it while fuelling the scam.

It is mostly a 2 way problem. Datacentres popping everywhere, making companies prioritise using wafers towards "server" memories and also still an effect from the covid years. There was a big boom in computer and parts purchasing during the covid years and companies kind of thought it would go on forever, so they cranked up production by a lot. When it didn't keep growing like they expected (well, duh) they cut down on production by (some experts say) too much. And they kind of have been living off inventory they didn't sell before. But now with the datacentre boom they have been slow (willing or unwillingly, take your pick) to adjust.
Not to mention that ram module manufacturers, distributors and resellers and also putting their hand in the money jar.

Maybe, maybe not. I too saw some not so expensive RAM on amazon but months of delivery time. One deal was 3 to 7 months, I think.

simple google search for that same ram is £200 from currys business, and many other outlets ranging from £200 to £350.

Show me 64GB CL30 in stock for that price, Currys is £290 but out of stock.
