Looking for suggestions
I rebuilt my PC around 2020, installed liquid cooling, new PSU and a 1660 super. Been running that until last year I upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

Since Tarkov 1.0 dropped, to compete with my friends(or keep up in progression) I need to be able to run maps like streets, if you've never played it, it's the largest map in the game and if I ran the game on medium settings I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem but I'd like to have more stable gameplay at higher settings, so I'm wondering what I should upgrade to. Mainly I need more VRAM, since I believe the 1660 has 6. Around $300 would be nice but throw whatever recommendations you have, I appreciate it

If you need my full build specs lmk and I'll get them after work tomorrow

5060ti would probably be the best budget gpu if you dont mind losing hardware physx

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/B4Nscf/zotac-twin-edge-oc-geforce-rtx-5060-ti-8-gb-video-card-zt-b50610h-10m

if you need physx, keep the 1660 for dedicated physx, it only needs 120w
and a x1-x4 electrical slot will be more than enough bandwidthfor it

if the mobo and case have room, and psu has an extra 6+2 connector

to be blunt your going to have to pump the rookie numbers up and pull some where close to 600 bucks US.....best bet at this time is a 9070XT.....you should be able to get 5 years out of the system if you already have a 7800x3d.....to be blunt you over spent here as a 7700x would have been fine even more so if your playing at 1440p.....

memory is going insane right now and 32gb kits of 6000mhz was 80 bucks.....now its 200.....GPU memory in DDR6X or DDR7 is going the same way do to LAMEeye oops i mean AI demand.....

I know its doubling your budget....but real world every thing under this price point sucks and is just not worth the coin....if stuck to a 300 budget fined something like a used 3080 or even shot the moon and look for a 7900xt (i saw a working one for 250 the other day)

at 350 US a 9060xt is 66% slower then a 9700xt.....9070xt is on par with a 5070ti on most games but the XT is 150 dollars cheaper in most cases.....5070 none TI is saving 50 whole dollars but is 20% SLOWER then a 9070xt

good luck.....hope you can do something to make that 7800x3d sweat a little....:vaultkey:

Kind of reminds me of them old Ferrari kit cars, looks like a Ferrari but has a 2 liter pinto engine in.
I would want a 5070 Ti min for that CPU, anything below seems a waste.

op said $~300 budget (assuming usd)

5060ti 8g is in the budget
and nearly twice as fast as the 1660

9060xt 16g is better but costs about $30 more

9070xt is about twice the budget

RTX 5060 is 2.2x faster than GTX 1660 super ,supports multiframe gen and DLSS 4

if i were you i d get a card with 16GB VRAM even if it costs more . RTX 3060 is an option but is only 53% faster than GTX 1660 super

wow the 1660S is barely faster than the now 9 yr old gtx 1070 and like the 1070 it doesnt support DLSS and has 2GB less VRAM
while the 7800X3D is the second fastest gaming cpu only slightly slower than the 9800X3D
maybe sell the cpu and get 7600X if you want keep that ancient GPU

5070, a tiny bit over budget assuming USD but still worth if you can save up a tad bit more

MASSIVE upgrade and you can get it for cheap depending on where you get it from, got mine for about 575 USD (converted) which was an absolute STEAL

i upgraded from my 1660 super to a 3060 which ran for about a year before i decided it was garbage, don't get me wrong its a good card it just sucks for what i do

if they sold their card for 90 bucks the budget would be around 400
With that cpu 1660s is pretty much bottleneck in that system regardless of game

With 300 $ you can get rtx 5060, but it has 8 gb vram and is pretty weak considering it's 50 series. I guess, DLSS 4 can help, but I wouldn't rely only on that.

5080 is much better and has 16 vram, but it will cost ~ 1000 $

Might look for some amd alternatives

Doesn't Escape from Tarkov need up to 64GB of RAM to properly run certain maps?
Talby 11 月 21 日 上午 4:54
have to agree at the $300 mark you are looking at 9060xt / 5060 / 5060ti for a bit over

also recommend saving up a bit, $500 gets you a 9070/16g or 5070/12g, a bit of a better match for your cpu if you can bear it out a bit longer...

did the same, 2600x > 5700x3d and 3070ti/8g > 5070/12g and 1440p is quite nice...

the best gpu that'd be actually worth it is the 5070, i feel like all the RX gpus are going to fall off due to gpus going towards AI more and also AMD will never keep up with raytracing and all the other stuff that is becoming neccessary for games

so yeah, if you can save up a bit more (200 bucks) hunt for some sales, get a zotac 5070 2 fan (cheapest one i could find that actually gives you the performance)

It needs more VRAM than RAM, crazy how it doesn't use up much CPU or RAM but maxes out GPUs
