Controller not working...
I bought a basic controller to get more into games, but it doesn't seem to work in a lot of games. It checks out in the Windows setup windows, but is no where to be found sometimes in Steam (on Windows) setup, etc.. What am I missing?

find a 360 controller or newer Xbox controller....they work with everything.....

after market controllers like the one you got need to be programmed for a lot of games

What does Steam>Settings>Controller say? Is the controller detected? BTW it should be connected to the PC with the USB charging cable, not Bluetooth.

Xbox controllers are abominations. Get an 8bitdo controller with a toggle switch for both directinput and useless xinput.

winkey + r -> joy.cpl
