Is worth buying the Rx 6600 today?
After all the scandal with the drivers support of the 5000 and 6000 series, is it worth buying the Rx 6600 today? In my country that was the most balanced graphic cards for low-mid range budget gaming but right know with that confusion with the drivers it's still worth buying it?

The driver confusion is being blown out of proportion quite a bit. Specially since AMD walked most all of it back and have basically admited to screwing up in both communication and in making the choice.

I would be less concered about the drivers, and more questioning if it will be performant enough in the games you plan to play. It should do well as long as you are sticking to 1080p with most all titles though.

If its affordable and decent in price I would def still go for it. The RX6k line wont be seeing any new feature sets added, but the drivers will continue at a basic level for some time yet, and the card will perform well enough for another few years.

RX-6900xt user myself.

rtx 5050 is better

intel B570 is an option too .But requires ReBar to show its potential . Also a fast CPU is preferable . Intel have improved the drivers but still there re quirks . i personally wouldnt get any Inel GPU .

Why when RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti are so cheap now

Yes, it's a good GPU for 1080p games.

1080P medium - high good GPU.

I mean... are you getting this GPU for free. If so fine but otherwise no don't waste any $ on it.
No, it's not worth it anymore, if you ask me.
AMD has officially moved these GPUs into what they call “maintenance mode,” which basically means no more regular feature or game optimization updates. They said they’ll still release drivers “based on market needs,” but thats jus corporate talk for “we’ll only update if there’s a huge backlash.” In other words, if a major AAA game launches and runs terribly on these cards, they might push out a fix but don’t expect consistent day-one optimizations like before.

That’s a huge red flag for me, especially in 2025, when so many games launch halfbaked and rely on quick GPU driver patches to fix performance or graphical bugs. Without regular updates, you’ll be stuck waiting longer (or forever) for fixes that NVIDIA or newer AMD cards get right away. And for a company that’s already had a bit of a reputation for weaker driver stability compared to NVIDIA, putting the RX 5000/6000 line on a legacy branch just feels like the wrong move.

Performance wise, the RX 6600 is still a solid 1080p card, but driver-wise it’s basically on life support now. I’d rather spend a bit more and grab an RTX 3060, those will keep getting game-ready drivers and DLSS support for years. There’s really no reason to buy into a product line that’s effectively at the end of its life unless you’re getting a really good deal. Prices for used RX 6800 XT and 6900 XT cards have already dropped noticeably and they’ll probably fall further as more people move away from this generation.

So yeah, I’d personally leave the sinking ship. The RX 5000 and 6000 cards were great in their time, but driver-wise, they’re on their last breath.

all the other brands suck for gaming as games are starting to require DLSS and raytracing so until AMD can catch up with raytracing then they don't seem as viable as everyone says for longevity

You can easily find a 5060 8GB for what a 3060 used to go for not long ago. We've seen recent sales dips tbat pins the 5060 Ti 16GB at below $400

As with anything, it's down to price/performance. Compare the price of each card and compare the benchmarks too. Like https://gpu.userbenchmark.com of other platforms. It's not a bible, but a good guide.
As for the 6600, I recently got a new GPU for a second computer and was looking at the 5700xt as my "goal". The 6600 was in the same "zone". But, at least were I live, the AMD cards are a bit more expensive than other options, especially in the used market. Ended up getting an Intel A750 used with 3 year warranty for 155 euros. About the same price as most 5700XT and 6600 with no warranty.
Now, there are things that might lead you to want a specific technology, but for most casual gamers, AMD, NVidia or Intel are pretty much the same.
Got a 5060 8GB on the main computer and it's fine. And honestly, haven't messed with the ray tracing or DLSS settings. Rimworld doesn't need them :D

userbenchmark is not even close to reliable. Like at ALL.
