My pc Restarts randomly
Hey guys,
I’ve been having random restarts and GPU driver crashes when playing certain games. I tested my PSU (MSI MAG A650BN, 650W Bronze) with a PSU tester and got a Power Good (PG) value of 90 ms.

From what I’ve read, the ATX spec is 100–500 ms, and the ideal range is around 250–350 ms, so mine seems a bit low.
Could that actually be the cause of my system instability?

Here’s what I’ve noticed:

GPU driver sometimes crashes and recovers, sometimes causes a full restart

After restart, audio switches from headphones to monitor speakers

I’ve already done DDU, clean Windows install, BIOS update, etc.

Everything points to the PSU at this point. Do you guys think I should RMA it since it’s still under warranty?

Thanks in advance 🙏

i mean if your GPU driver crash, should you be worried here

it can be a symptom of a deeper PSU issue, not the root cause itself.
Might use HWInfo64 and log the readings while running a benchmark

check the temps as well .Could be the GPU as well

Your PSU is definitely the problem here. A low PG value usually means the PSU can't keep the output voltages stable when the load changes. So, yes. You should RMA your PSU before it causes damage to your other components.

psu testers dont actually test, unless its a psu load tester
they just gnd the power on signal, and show voltages for rails with no load, which any failing psu can pass
it may show its power factor, which has nothing to do with output stability at load

80+ bronze means its an older design, newer designed psus for pc are 80+ gold or better

as for sound device changing, windows always has trouble reverting to last used device when more than 2 are available, disable all unused audio devices in windows audio control panel
and get all the mobo drivers from the mobo mfg or oem site
