AT&T All-Fi
Snagged a 5 year deal using att allfi this week and technically speaking it is working properly. By default it doesn’t have a public ip. Critically speaking the all in one device doesn’t allow connections such as ipv4 pass through meaning xbox consoles and gaming on windows is unavailable. Using the given ip to configure settings I met with at&t horrid user interface making it difficult to open links inside of the configuration to further change its settings. What I’m trying to get at is I think I got scammed and my service is so barebones I’m not able to open ipv4 pass through, create a public ip, or turn off parental controls. Three phone are connected to its internet and only mine (the only iPhone) doesn’t want to load stream anything while connected.

Has anyone had any experience with All-Fi here?

You expect them to honor a 5 year plan?

Look in the small print for where it says "subject to change without notice." Because they WILL.

My friend had a similar t-mobile usb modem. It's totally cool wireless and used cellular. Laptop of course and in 2008.

Yah ahead of its time

I use TMobile 5G as one of my options here and it's been very good. Gaming, downloads whatever you throw at it... no issues to speak of. Paying for 350Mbps and getting 450-500 most of the time. Hard to beat for around $40/month and it doesn't have issues with data. Most months I've downloaded around 10-12 TB worth no problem.

Noted. Att has been in the area roughly two years now and was mainly a spectrum dominated space.

Update on the All-Fi experience. If you’re having my specific issues, call att and ask for a public ip address. The story is unfolding now and this seems to cover all bases

WaveG has 1000mbs fiber for $45 so I'd shop around to see what else is available in that area. Currently have 5300mbs fiber with Ziply and its only about $100 though I've been thinking of going 10000mbs as I have the equipment.
If they can't provide the most basic of services then you're better off jumping ship.
T-Mobile and Xfinity keep trying to upsell cellular internet. The only reason I'm still on an old DOCSIS 3 cable modem instead of 3.1, and refusing fiber hookups, is because I'm waiting for full duplex DOCSIS 4 to hit retail.

The story is at an end now, I can confidently say this All-Fi from att is a standard experience. My literacy in this space has improved and with that so has my product.
Yes there may be better options, but nothing is stopping anyone from changing internets while inside of the trial period.

Fast ish speeds great download and upload.

If anyone was to take anything away from this thread taking my experience into consideration for their hard earned USD just remember the hotline. Learn and experiment inside of settings. All-Fi is standard, no issues.

So I just finished a year or so on ATT All-Fi and it was pretty good service. ATT has been a PITA for return of the equipment but thats a dif story. I work from home and live rural, so it was an important connection and it did its job well. With a bit of calling to them you *can* get all you want from it.

To get a public IPV4 address you will need to call them. It wont be static, but it will remain yours as long as you use it just like any other dynamic IPV4 from any other ISP.

Once you have that done it will unlock the port forwarding and port triggering options in the allfi hub's web-UI. You cannot access these features through the app, you will have to use the web broswer based configuration GUI,

The data is truely unlimited. I averaged 1-2TB/Month of throughput, including running game servers (for games where lattency is less a concern), a plex server, and another data inteensive 24/7 server. All port forwarding and all data use works as intended, no throttling or anything.

If you have any reason for service suspension (in my year the auto billing failed at least once) and they suspend the service, it will deactivate the IPV4. It wont clear all your established rules, but on their side it turns off. You will have to re-call them.

The reason for the port issues and IPV4 thing is that they are using CGNAT and forcing multiple users to share single IPV4 addresses.

Overall I was pleased with the service. I got 20-30 mpbs uploads, 200-300mbps downloads, and a typicall lattency of sub-100ms which is pretty good for a wireless standard. I was able to do a call center style Work from Home job for nearly a year, as well as game, view content, and upload content fast enough for myself and others.

Oh for sure. Two dif companies used public funds to run Fiber here (physically) over 5 years ago. They (one of the two at least) finally got around to hooking up the last few hundred feet for residential users a few months ago.

500mbps for 39.99/mo
1Gbps for 49.99/mo
2gbps for 59.99/mo
5gbs for 69.99/mo
10gbps for 79.99/mo

For residential :D

I went with 1gig for less than I was paying ATT. Am tempted to want more, but lets be real, nearly every PC in my house has either wireless or gigabit lan. I have a small handful of two or three that might push faster with things like a 2.5gbps onboard NIC, but none of my networking HW supports higher than 1gig.

And the costs of a 2.5g or 10g network upgrade are just not worth it rn.

But the prices for the speed? Wonderful.

I'd say there are some affordable gear but they literally stopped selling the moment I got some.

Got a 10Gbe switch with 8 ports and 60Gbs switching capacity for $150 on sale down from $200 and now its gone lol. Also running an NVME to 10Gbe adapter in my rig.

Still 10 Gbe should be cheaper than it is now.
