Intel 12700k and MOBO chipset drivers question
On my 12700k system (Haven't overcloched)While i am always updating drivers and os(win 10 home) I just realized that i havent updated the MOBO chipset drivers since the day i build the system(so i have 3 years old chipset drivers.....)I will obviously update them the next time i will be on the system but i have a question updating the MOBO chipset drivers could impact(for the best) the cpu performance on latest games (2023-2025)?

There could be differences, yes, but it's unlikely to negatively impact performance across the board.

If anything, you may be losing more benefits by still being on Windows 10 for some reason on a 12th+ generation architecture, because Windows 11's scheduler does better with the hybrid architecture of those CPUs.

You'll be able to run faster RAM/XMP.

Some have reported 100MHz less on CPU with newer BIOS. What you want to do for CPU is enable 'Enhanced Multi-Core Performance' or 'Sync All Cores' so all 8 P-cores will hit 5GHz, not just 1, especially if only one is turboing to 4.9 max. Disable the E-cores.

only on 13-14th gen cpus bios patches coiuld limit core performance by limiting the voltage to limit damage to the cpu

12th gen is perfectly fine and bios patches will not limit them since the 12th gen cpus do not have the defect
Chipset drivers are basically, wifi, bluetooth, network, sata/nvme drivers and IGPU. None of which will improve your fps in-game, unless you game on your IGPU. Updating your BIOS (and cpu microcode) *may* have a more significant impact, although -as of late- it's unlikely to be a positive one.

Get a non updatable slimmed down Win10 ISO with spyware and bloat removed. And OC your CPU to 5.0GHz p-core, 4.0 GHz e-core and 4.2 ring (most 12700k should achieve this easily). That will give you the biggest performance boost.

Which board do you have?

Yeah update all drivers and BIOS. No sense in only doing one specific driver in 3yrs.

Can't say I notice any difference, though I never stayed on Win11 that long.

Disable e-cores no matter the OS so there's zero chance of any actual workload landing on them.

No that's where BIOS updates come into play. Your Chipset Driver has nothing to do with that.

Just finished installing win 11 and run a test.Way better cpu utilization(+10 fps on clair obscure expedition 33)And lower cpu temps!
