Maybe. Im using windows 10 as well and I also get an update. I did look up to it and how it's possible and the answer I found was, my pc was enrolled for an extended security update. I guess this is for those who can't afford windows 11 pc yet and they give us 1 year to get it
There was an update recently that fixed an issue for ESU not being available for some PCs, so it may have been that.
Otherwise, malicious softweare removal updates used to come through Windows Update in Windows 7 but I'm not sure if they do in Windows 10. Those aren't really OS updates though. Windows 7 was getting them long after it lost support too.
Yes. The virus definitions still updates. That is independent of Windows update. I did not try and see what the update was.
My update was this one:
"KB5072653: Extended Security Updates (ESU) Licensing Preparation Package for Windows 10"
