The X3D is a higher quality board, as it supports faster memory clock speeds. But it is not worth spending the extra money on unless you need 10Gbit ethernet.
I have a MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK, does everything a gamer needs.
870 has 36 total PCI-E lanes with only 24 being gen 5, 4 total sata ports and half the USB ports
870E has 44 PCI-E lanes but still only 24 being gen 5, 8 total sata ports and a doubling of useless USB ports (saw one with a total of 24 usb ports if you include the internal headers)
unless you have a ton of M.2 drives or still need SATA for storage the E version is not worth the extra coin
