what does loose support os mean?
IDK where the windows 98 machine is. That thing blue screened alot.
Windows xp machine i took parts out for another build
Same goes with windows 8 machine.
On windows 11 now. I think it's ok.
Thinking finding the extra wire for the 98 or xp machine for the older games. The old games ran but pain to set up.
What does loose support mean? Youtube video says it just says lost support on the web browser.

I think i should just order the extra part.

Why did xbox, wii, wii u, ds, , 3ds not connect online anymore?
I am getting scard.
I have a 3ds. i think it's awsome. i fear for the switch 2 now.IDK put steam on there for download on the ninendo store. that would be funny stuff.

think they said it works. just says lost support.
IDK what security update mean.

Older games still needs a older os to play anyways.

anything that is designed to run on xp or later can run on win 7-10-11

most dos games an win 3.1 can be run on dosbox
win 9x games were a weird monster that many need a 9x machine to run on

NHL 98 was a beast. It modified the video ram and such, that it can only be played on win 9x and me

directx 3-5 did some really weird things like that, playing directly with vram and using that for memory calls between frames since it was faster than sd/edo ram at the time
store and call data between frames, or use unused output buffer space
16bpp x 640x480 = 4m bits of extra space to use as ram

I couldn't get dosbox to connect to the internet. Maybe because it lost support. i only gave it a shot trying to put windows 98 on there. IDK.

Thinking it's this internet feed. It's getting weird. WHy take games off steam, they looked like good tittles.

Most work on windows 11 so far. Lots of setting up some of them
Steam team needs to work on making it work better on high resolution PCs.
Gotta change a bunch of settings before let it play good.

You don't need DOSBOX itself to be connected to the internet to play those games. Believe me on that, I play a lot of games of that era.

Might be my hardware that's to blame. But, within DOSBOX, I had better result sticking to 640x480 resolution. Unless, of course, hardware acceleration is involved. In which case the game will perform just fine on 800x600.

At least from my testing using what I have available to me. Results may vary.

dos/win 3.1 era was not really internet for gaming beyond mud or dedicated servers

for lan gaming using ipx but thats not supported on win 7 and later

there are ipx to udp wrappers that can make the game work on network (not internet)
