Last time I checked... Windows is an operating system and Discord is not.

Last time I checked... Windows is an operating system and Discord is not.

both are software. my bad, windows was poor example.
there are many softwares discussed here, that are not OS.

Valve doesnt own Discord , yet .(not needed ,anyways) .It cant make changes to Discord code i.e. to adjust Discord to your preferences . We discuss software related to gaming .You know Steam hosts almost every game .

If done in Off Topic the Valve Moderation will either lock it, or more likely, move it here.

Moderation teams for Valve have already set the standard that any software discussions that fall outside steam or a specific game title get sent to the HW and OS forum.

So, despite it not matching the forum description, this is the SoP for Valve and the area they will instruct the discussion to occur, so...

But yeh @OP:

Discord has been super sucky recently. Its gotten so bad in the last two months that myself and multiple friends have gone back to actual Phone Calls and Texting instead because its so bad.

Issues we have seen across multiple users, on multiple devices, on multiple platroms (Windows, Android and iOS) and in multiple states, on both home-ISP and Cell ISP include but are not limited to:

Servers not loading content in channels
Pics and gifs not loading
Text sending but not fully, remaining grey, till it finally goes through
Voice chats where individuals cannot be heard, despite discord showing on their client side that it is broadcasting and picking up their mic.
Video calls failing to load, either for specific users, or for all users watching a specific user.
Being mid call, with everything working, and having audio for one or more users cut out. Sometimes this happens for a few seconds or a few minutes, some times it breaks all night and we have to go to another voice option.

In some of the call related issues they can be semi-consistently but not always fixed through forced relocation for data center to something that would not be used automatically, typically out of country or to the other side of the US.

In *every single instance* when we finally give up and *use the same devices and same connections* to communicate via a different option (such as VOIP, Steam, Teams etc) it just works. Never any issue, never any TS.

In my research, it seems that most all of these were non-issues for the most part till around two years ago. It seems around then Discord put out an update and most all of the issues above were seen en-mass and reported pretty heavily. Didnt affect all, but affected enough that on their support forums Discord seemingly acknowledged there was an issue caused. They then seem to have tried to fix it, put out a few patches, and as far as they are concerned it is no longer an issue.

The number of reports and affected users def went down, but they never stopped, and the specific issues above are still being reported. Only now they blame it on anything but them. Its the User. Is the PC, mic, system config. Its the ISP. Its anything except a Discord issue.

Well, the result is that myself and many I know are moving away from Discord. There are other options out there. Discord came up quick, and when it eventually dies it will be quick to fall and then will cling and linger as a shell of itself selling anything and everything to hold on till it finally colapses. Think the way Myspace ended lol

We used Discord as a place for our Asphalt 9 club to chat . i left the given club and Discord . No way back .Lol
