After they came out with a newer Steam Deck without offering an upgrade option, I think I will wait to buy this new volley of hardware.

Of course if the price is right and I have a need to replace my GPU or another expensive part on my PC I'd consider buying one. Been burnt by Steam hardware twice now. Steam Controller was amazing except for triggers that broke regularly. Didn't realize this until they had stopped making them.

Think the controller will be safe to buy. IMO only reason the 1st controller didn't do well was because ppl were paid to give bad reviews by the console consortium.

Gonna wait for bugs to shake out, see if there will be a price reduction, and if they will come out with a new model shortly after the initial offering goes live.
