Laptop, 5070 TI vs 5080
Will 5070 TI suffice for games that will arrive within 5 years to play at max settings, or should I get the 5080 instead?
And will a 5080 cause much more heat production within a laptop compared to a 5070 TI?

Which Laptop is the question.

If it's not something like Fraemworks 16 or Sager.... I wouldn't waste that kind of money on a Gaming Laptop.

Both on the Hp Omen Max 16

if the manufacturer has not set a lower TGP , RTX 5070 ti should be close to desktop RTX 4070 in terms of raw perf. How hot runs depens on the laptop cooling design. RTX 5070ti has 12GB VRAM , RTX 5080 - 16GB

short answer, no
long answer, nooooooooooooooooooo

laptop for gaming, newest games at max settings, maybe a year or two
newer games are more demanding, and outpaced by laptops almost instantly

5070 ti mobile FP32 (float) 17.04 TFLOPS FP64 (double) 266.2 GFLOPS 5080 mobile FP32 (float) 23.04 TFLOPS FP64 (double) 360.0 GFLOPS

5080 mobile is still weaker than desktop 4070
4070 desktop FP32 (float) 29.15 TFLOPS FP64 (double) 455.4 GFLOPS

actual performance depends on the laptops cooling and power delivery
not all laptops can give the mobile gpus 80+w

that data above are relative . The performance depends on the TGP the manufacturer has set

Laptops will always be busy heat throttling unless your in canada/Antarctica.

Sorry had to jab canada.... I'm allowed since I am waiting here.

HP, Dell or Lenovo.... heck no. Junk
Except maybe the Dell Alienware stuff.

Trust me, go through Sager or Framework and you have a wide selection of options for the Laptop overall features and core components with prices that are competitive and what you end up with is a well built professional class laptop. Their Support are also top notch.

The answer to your first question: No

Without knowing which resolution and settings you plan to play on, how are we supposed to give you accurate information. It's like me going to a bakery and when asked what I want I tell them "I like pastries".

No, but not because the 5070 Ti is weak, it's a solid laptop GPU. The problem is the expectation. Max settings five years from now is a moving target, and games only get heavier each generation. Even today's high-end laptop GPUs eventually drop down to high or medium presets after a few years, especially with how fast ray tracing and texture quality are progressing. And remember, mobile GPUs are limited by thermals and power compared to their desktop versions, so they struggle sooner. If your goal is just to keep playing comfortably at high settings, the 5070 Ti will be fine. But if you literally want to hold max settings for the next five years, that's just not realistic for any laptop GPU.
