TX650M and 5070 ti

I just ordered a new 5070 ti to replace my 3060 ti. My power supply is a Corsair TX650M Gold.

I know that a 750w psu is recommended, but Corsair's own PSU calculator said that I would be fine, as far as wattage is concerned. I don't have a ton of fans, or extra drives, or RGB, or an AIO.

The issue is that I just realized that this psu doesn't have a native 12V-2x6 connector. From what I've read, the GPU should come with an adapter that I can use, but I also read that it is not recommended.

My question is, does anyone know if I can safely use my new 5070 ti with the adapter, temporarily, until I am able to get a new power supply next month? =(

My concern is using the adapter and melting it and damaging my new gpu or something.

I'm only playing games like DayZ, and Arc Raiders.

And I'd have the money for a new psu next month.

I'm curious if i can safely use my current psu, via the adapter, temporarily until I can replace it.

Kinda iffy. It`s 300W card and TX650M is rather old design.
Technically you could since CPU is low power but safer bet would be to get decent 850W PSU with 16-pin connector so you don`t need to use adapter.

RTX 5070 ti is 300W (356W spikes), Ryzen 5600X is max 74W without PBO ,add other 100W . 475W in total .your PSU has 612W on +12V rail , so you should be fine . Might set in NVidia app 90% power limi . Well , a greater PSU would allow you for some overclocking.

Yes, I agree with all of that. What I'm wondering is, do you think I can safely use this psu, just temporarily, until I can get a new psu next month.

I wasn't concerned with the power draw. My main concern was the safety of using the adapter. I wasn't sure about the safety of it. I'd hate to have it melt or something.

I plan to get a new psu. The issue is that I just spent all of my funds on the GPU, and did not realize until after ordering it, that my psu does not have the proper connector, unless I use an adapter.

Thank you so much. I probably overthink things sometimes. But this is a very big purchase for me, so I'm nervous about damaging it. Haha

i ordered RTX 4070 (Super) and was worried too . Well , my orders ware canceled due to no stock .ended up with RX 9070 . it doesnt need 16pin .anyway

Dang, I've had that happen before.
A couple of years ago I ordered some components for my new build, and there was a bridge collapse somewhere, and my shipment ended up at the bottom of a river. =P

It was all replaced by the seller, though, as that was not my fault that they fell off a bridge. haha
