i7 14700k bottleneck a rtx 5070ti in 1440p?
recently got these 2 and notice in cyberpunk my gpu usage is only around 65% to 85% havent really noticed in other games

Depends on the game, screen res, refresh rate, graphics settings.

Don't look at the usage %, look at the full power draw using GPUZ

But no, that CPU is just fine.

How are your thermals under full CPU+GPU loads after approx 15-30 minutes?

Maybe OC the CPU and Undervolt it.

Both temps for cpu and gpu are in 60c to 70c range and I have it undervolted rn by alittle 0.05000

Totally depends on the game and the settings... might be your 5070 ti limiting your CPU or viceversa.

14700k is a topnotch cpu overall still. Just undervolt it so it continues to be.

^ them

simple test

if the gpu is 95-100% then the gpu is the bottleneck
lower res and visual settings and disable vsync to verify fps goes up to prove gpu is bottleneck

if the gpu is under 90% with all forms of vsync off then the cpu or something else is limiting it

yes if you play at 720p low...

Here’s two answers.

The simple one is no, no modern processor that isn’t total bottom end should not hamper the performance any modern GPU.

The long answer is that inevitably any system has a bottleneck where some part is holding you back, it varies depending on the game or task but it’s an unavoidable part of system building.

Yes believe it or not, even the fastest consumer SSD is still a major bottleneck. Apps and Drivers can all add to that as well. What can help is learning and applying good tweaks to WinOS. Not to mention Games.

Many have not caught on to apps such as ShutUp10, TDR Manipulator, DDU, NVIDIA Inspector, CoreDirector, MSI Afterburner... or learned good tweaks to apply to WinOS and also which OS settings should be essential for most users to disable

I'll never understand the obsession with bottlenecks. All you can do is having a fairly balanced system (which this kinda is) -- and/or one built around your preferences. Otherwise, bottlenecks cannot be avoided. They change from application to application. From game to game. They can even change from scene to scene within that game. And on the occasion, that bottleneck may be something you don't even have on your radar, like memory, storage, cooling, the OS. At any one point, something will be the limiter. This is the inherent nature of things. Even in your car. Or your body.

TL;DR: Bottlenecks are not worth obsessing about.

Well people think their GPU is always supposed to be pegged at 99-100%

The GPU usage % has zero to do with current or possible max FPS.

Not all games will utilize the GPU the same ways. Some games have unfixed bugs that will peg the GPU to max usage no matter what.

this is the problem with using software like Afterburner
ppl see numbers that they couldn't understand

Also good points!

Thinking about it: Since GPUs are typically by far the most expensive PC parts now, it kinda makes sense though. You probably want to see that money always "utilized" fully. But even then, there's solutions: Up the res, the settings... On PC, any GPU can be brought down to a crawl thanks to all the options available. Even a 5090 (see Borderlands 4 more recent). :-D

I tend to cap FPS so the GPU is at about 70/80% use to give headroom for a solid stable FPS with smooth frame times.

99/100% use to me means the game is too much for that GPU at the desired settings.

OP sound like a CPU limit though, CP is super CPU heavy if you have RT/Path Tracing combined with DLSS Transformer model.
