Pick the KDE Neon version if you want it to be more Windows like.
Bazzite is popular, but I don't personally like it.
CachyOS is also a good choice from what I hear, but I have never used it.
I switched from Windows to Mint Cinnamon back in January, after 30 years of using Windows. It's been a positive experience for me.
What is good about it is that it is very easy to install but be careful it's very easy to format your entire hard drive with it and erase all data.
From other distros, two versions I like so far are Linux Arch with KDE and Fedora with KDE.
I haven't tried them yet, but Fedora with KDE seems to be much easier to install.
Steam OS is also Linux and is by definition should be really good at playing games
Most linux distros can do this.
Since you're coming from windows you want something with either the Cinnamon or KDE (desktop environment).
You can try:
Bazzite
Fedora KDE
Kubuntu
Linux Mint
and many many more
It's possible you did something wrong during the installation steps (or your laptop is just insanely old).
Did you disable secureboot before installing bazzite? Otherwise you'll manually have to enroll the key.
Can you please stop trolling?
XFCE looks like ****, this isn't the 90's anymore, modern PC's can actually run desktop environments that look better then Windows 98.
It’s optimised for gaming and easy of use. It’s using bazaar wich is probably the easiest „App Store”.
I also highly recommend to use separate ssd for windows and Linux.
