Low FPS and lag on my steam games only
I got a new laptop several months back and it has better specs than my previous laptop. About a month ago, all of the sudden the FPS dropped drastically in my games. I mainly play Conan exiles, Sea of Thieves, & No Mans Sky. I have restarted many times, I have updated and re-installed the graphics drivers, I have re-installed Steam and all the games, I have turned the graphics settings down all the way, I have nothing running in the background.

Sometimes it seems to run normal like nothing is wrong. Another day it is low FPS, like less than 9-15 FPS. This is only happening on my steam games. I don't know what else to try. HELP!

Hey, sounds like your laptop might be throttling or running background stuff when those drops happen. Id start by monitoring your temps and CPU/GPU loads while you play (slow read/write speeds can cause stutters, low FPS, or temporary freezes as well).
Tools like RivaTuner, MSI Afterburner, or any OSD tool you like work fine.

Check if the CPU/GPU spikes super high or the temps go above 85–90C when the FPS drops. That usually points to thermal throttling or heavy background tasks.

Also make sure youre on High Performance mode and plugged in. Laptops often throttle on battery.

Does your laptop have two GPU's? Are you using the right one with your Steam games?

Its always plugged in and its in high performance. I'll look into the tools. what is confusing me is that this only happens on Steam games.

just the igpu?
it will never run demanding games at a playable fps

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here
I was about to make a thread for this because I've been having problems. I reinstalled Steam last week and it worked for about a week. I just got it to work by turning off background recording.
