i may just use xbox one controller from now on since it works on windows with usb dont need dongle anymore
Get it from the MS Online Catalog
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=xbox%20360
Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows > Windows 7/8/8.1 and later drivers
Xbox 360 Controller for Windows > Windows 7/8/8.1 and later drivers
First connect the receiver again after driver removed, then do the controller pairing.
Then install driver manually via device manager.
Use WINKEY+R > JOY.CPL
to verify the controller working.
get the new mobo drivers from the mobo mfg for that board
chipset, audio, lan etc...
I get a message saying that it encounters an error when trying to install the drivers, then Code 10.
Update on this, by the way. I "solved" the problem by connecting it to the rear USB after uninstalling and restarting Windows/reinstalling the USB drivers. It still doesn't work on the front USB ports for some reason (worked fine on 7 and before, same ports, flash drives etc still work fine) but for some reason they don't play nice with Windows 10.
