Windows 11 will cause a lot of problems for Steam users of W10
You need to watch the Youtube video by Rob Braxman

Title: '' Windows 11 is a lost cause. Truly destined for the garbage. Don't upgrade from 10 ''

I was really shocked by what I learned. Hope it helps in your decision making.

If and when Steam stops supporting W10 (like it did for W7) I will go with PoP OS Linux. I tried it a couple of years ago and most of my Steam games ran well and it was good for routine computer tasks. It supports AMD and Nvidia drivers ( separate installation ISO )

Just back up your images and documents and other important files and work files on an external hard drive before you change OS.

It is also possible to have a dual boot OS with W10 and Linux but the Braxman video explains why W11 will destroy your Linux installation.

I would recommend installing your Linux on a separate HDD from Windows 10 or an external HD.
Configure your Bios to manually boot the required drive.

The decision is yours: do you want to have all your data and personal information gathered by MS or do you want to keep your private information private and in your possession ?

Hope it helps.

Just stay on Win10.

Win11 is not a need yet.

Even on a new build you can just put Win10 22H2 or use a Linux distro

It is possible to block W11 installation if you have W10 professional and keep using 10.

The steps are well explained by Britec09 on YT video (using group policy editor in W7 Pro)

I understand that Regular Windows Home users cannot block MS from a forced ''upgrade''.

''How to Block The Windows 11 Update'' by Britec on YT.

I made this post to help other players before MS launches its monster. Those videos speak for themselves.

Even with Home Edition you can, just use the Windows Updates Hide/Remove Tool

I don't want to seem argumentative but to the best of my memory, the Britec video mentioned it only worked for the Pro Version. Could you provide a reference ? If you are indeed right, it will help a lot of people, if you are wrong, well, you can imagine the rest...

there is no safe OS the only safety you have is knowing there is no safe space where you have pipe dreams about thinking your not 100% at risk no matter what.

When I read the Steam forums, I get the impression that many users have just emerged from a cryogenic chamber :HappyMask:

Dude, you're a few years late. We upgraded to Windows 11 four years ago. 63.04% of Steam users are on Windows 11.

Thanks for this valuable information. It's really important for us to know which OS you'll be using!

^ This

And those YouTubers are just click bait BS'ers trying to get attention. Nothing more.

Do you see real professionals on YouTube or Twitch for example be like "Well guys, I will have to give this all up, I can't continue thanks to the Win11 push, which I refuse to use"

LOL yea right.

Good luck with multiplayer games.

I really think anyone who has issues with the 'spying' windows does needs their hard drives checked by police.

But enjoy your single player games on Linux.

Oh no, Rob Braxman is advertising his "privacy" services that are actually not respecting it at all. Meanwhile he will never metion a single networking tool that will allow you to monitor your system and block connections as needed.

Been on Windows 11 for over a year. Not a single real issue.
The majority that are on Win11 have no real issues.
Why people who are on Windows 10 have problem with Windows 11? To me it's just Windows 10 with different GUI. I personally disliked the GUI on Windows 10, looked like something made for tablets, but it's down to personal preference. I doubt telemetry on Windows 10 is any better than Windows 11.

There were some issues on Windows 11, like file explorer top tab getting corrupted sometimes, but that has been long addressed by now.

The forced MS account is annoying, but after install, during Win 11 setup you can press SHIFT + F10, type in oobe \bypassnro and you can use the OS without MS account.

They need attention. They are cry baby spoiled brats. Social Media and YouTube are full of those kinds of people. "Oh look at me people" "Oh yea well I don't like this thing or this person... blah blah blah."

Just like the Win7/8 crowd. Lazy and cheap people who think the world revolves around them and their wanting to keep using outdated hardware.... like we need to care about such people.

If you're using something and you're happy, then STFU and be happy. It's that simple.

Then the same types of people who complained about putting their foot down... No I won't move to Win10... now saying that about Win11. And they use this whole tin foil hat theory to justify it all. As if there was not spying when we were all using Vista and Win7... Oh now because they've realized it's a reality and there is a black market for it that actually exists, the fear mongering spreads. I can't help but ROFL at those people because any "online" presence of any kind has always had the potential to have data tracking and telemetry associated with it. It's always been that way.

If you don't know how to be anonymous online, that's your problem. It's a skill issue.

i have migrated to 11 long ago . Never , never had a single issue . There was an installation hiccup - the C drive was not enough .i had to tweak the partitions. Another machine , migrated to 10 from 7 , zero issues
