2. Which version of Steam, make sure it's the .deb version and not flatpak
and im not a linux person, i installed steam through snap (the steam client that i downloaded was published by Canonical), but i guess i should download it from steampowered instead? didn't bother trying that
Then launch Steam and configure the Settings for Voice and PTT
getting the proper version of steam is as simple as running 'sudo apt install steam'
24.04.1 IT IS LTS
i installed the debian instead of from snap and the problem was fixed
if you have any more problems you might have better luck on the steam for linux forums, not many people that frequent the hwos forum use linux
If you installed Steam from the Snap Store, mic access can be blocked by sandboxing.
Run:
snap connections steam | grep audio
If the :audio-record plug is not connected, connect it:
sudo snap connect steam:audio-record :audio-record
worked perfectly ty
See this Steam mods, this is why you don't lock topics on a tech forum new info can always be added and people find help, I'm also kind of curios how you got the job and don't even know this and why search function exists, you don't even follow the guide lines on forum moderation set by Steam on their own page.
"Why do moderators lock and delete discussions?
Respectful arguments are a constructive and beneficial aspect of the Steam Community. When a discussion thread veers off a constructive path or is causing frequent disrespect between players, Steam moderators will lock the thread.
If a discussion thread contains prohibited topics, spam, or is otherwise not constructive, moderators may also delete specific content in an effort to preserve the conversation. However, there are cases where removing the thread itself is necessary."
Nothing about locking because we are "confused" that's some new weird take you new gen of mods have.
It's been basic forum etiquette for many years all over the internet that you don't bump or necropost old threads that aren't getting focus, they just haven't added it to their rules pages but they do enforce it. Rarely is it ever the case that someone comes along years later with a solution, most of the time it's either off-topic or someone else asking if the OP found a solution.
worked for me! incredible!
