Can i reuse my windows key?
So basically i had an OEM key tied to my windows install, i thought lets tinker it and install 11 pro (i had 11 home) and then it ultimately broke my install, i reinstalled it nothing, can i reinstall windows 11 back again and now use 11 home perfectly? i cleared the key from my motherboard leading to windows being deactivated

First of all, you can't deactivate a key, since users have zero control over that.

Make sure you've remade your Win11 USB Flash Drive, so it is 24H2 and not older.

Boot from the Win11 USB.

Wipe each partition of Drive 0 (if you have secondary drives, shutdown the PC and disconnect these first before an OS install); and then clean install Win11 Home if Home Edtion of Win10 or Win11 is what your key is for. Both Win10 and 11 keys will work on Win11. The key unlocks the Edition, so you can't use a Win10 or 11 Home Key to activate Pro Edition, as that would require a Pro key.

If you enter a Win10 or 11 key during the Win11 install process; then the key will automatically dictate which Edition gets installs, where as if you choose "I do not have a key" it will ask you which Edition to install.

The key is forever tied to the Motherboard via online digital license.

If it is an OEM key; such as Dell, Alienware, HP, IBM, Lenovo... you can not transfer it. All you can do is reinstall the same OS edition on that PC.

I executed a command which removed my windows license key and deactivated my windows

Yeah, you can reinstall 11 Home OEM keys usually auto-activate. But if the firmware key got wiped, Windows won’t activate, so you’ll need a new one. I replaced mine with a $13 key from Digitlogs and it worked instantly.

retail, yes
oem/builder are only good for one mobo, or if you contact ms they can allow mobo upgrade
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
