Ultimate customizable steam machine: May I achieve that now?
I'm a PC gamer since.... 2005, when I was 11. In those years I only had a freaking hotty Pentium D with an 6600 GT NVIDIA. That ♥♥♥♥ barely runned devil may cry 3.... those times.... today I have my own decent gamer pc with an I5 6600 plus a 3 gb 1060 gtx since 2 years ago... I mean i had an i5 750 with an 570 gtx before, its not like I jumped from the 6600 gt build lol...

That was just to introduce something I was always looking for in a pc: Compact and power. I'm actually not a truth PC gamer, I'm more like a console fanboy who likes graphics. I'm a casual gamer, I don't play Overwatch or League of Lends, Dota 2, etc... I like Rocket League, Tekken 7, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Overcoocked, Worms WMD.... and, mostly local multiplayer games that you play on gamepad. Of course I also love the Tomb Raider Series (2013 and ROTR), some shooters like left 4 dead and Dark Souls/Nioh. What does all that games got in common? You'd better play them with a controller. Since 2011, I'd stick with the xbox 360 gamepad.

Anyway, my main nowadays pc (like i said i5 6600 and 1060 gtx) fits in a silverstone rvz01. I was so happy with it, because in my country (Chile) you can find mini itx hardware and cases, but not the smaller ones. I just brought that from amazon. I was so happy.... The main problem was.... it was heavier and bigger than I expected. I mean, when I build it in 2016 I find that it just didn't fit in my bag and when I was going to carry it to play in a friend house or bring it to a cousin or something, I had to carry it with a freaking camping bag...

Years before when alienware alpha showed off.... I just didn't like it. I mean, you barely can upgrade that. And if some part broke besides the HDD/SDD, the ram and (Barely) de cpu, you are done with it. Well. The same year I build the 1060 gtx pc, I found that AMD released the first desktop APUs to the market. First I was excited, but seeing that they barely run GTA V at 720p on lowest settings at maximum 35 fps with overclock.... I was so disapointed.

But now, the Ryzen 2400G is a real deal. I mean, I knnow it can't play AAA games at 1080p max settings with SSAA, Downsampling, SSAO inyection, etc... But hey, when I got to travel, I can play Nioh at 720p, Medium-high settings with the iGPU of the 2400G at >30 fps (40 avg). And I can also enjoy almost all my favourite multiplayer games at 1080p at high settings (Well, tekken 7 just in medium, but im ok with that). Anyway, so my experiment is building the ultimate consoled size pc... you may ask. Why you just dont buy a PS4? Starting with the fact that a console has no retrocompatibility (I mean, I can play again Mirror's Edge 2009 on any pc with steam, wich I can't on console). Also game's deals at winter or summer beats up the Sony's and Microsoft's. So I will definetly going with this project. Anyway my basic requirements are:

1) To play at 1080p casual games and 720p the AAA ones. Wich Rysen Series can do that

2) Build a PC upgradable to a better APU with better iGPU... Come on, I forgot to tell you that I also build a 470 RX amd x4 ethereum mining rig. GPU prices are rising like the eagle. That means in the future, iGPU will be a nice and cheap alternative. And since AM4 socket is relatively new, I know if I buy AM4 socket with the 2400G I would upgrade it at least two times.

3) INCREDIBELY compact: Since it won't have dedicated GPU, there will be more free space to destroy. The main problem is the PSU, but since HDPlex 300W TINY PSU exist and the Ryzen consumes at best 160W Overclocked at gaming, I will stick with that in a freaking 20x20x7 cm (aprox) Morex 557 mini itx case. And since it supports a low profile cooler, well, thats an ultimate solution. As for the ram i will buy 8 gbs at 3200 Mhz, since the faster ram is better for the APU in gaming. And as for the HDD/SSD, well my i5 6600/GTX 1060 build as a 2.5 Seagate 2GB Hybrid SSHDD and it is just great. The Windows OS loading time it's not that different from an SSHDD and an SSD, for reading game info while playing it's just the same as having an SSD and also, it's cheaper. So I will get another one.

Ok so you may be asking why I'm posting all of this stuff since I have almost the 100% of the idea clear... well, I have some cuestions about... eemm, tweaks for this machine to be more like a "Console".

Complain n°1:

I've been researched for almost 8 months in 2016-2017 about how to tweak Windows 10 to look more like a "Steam-based console" and I solved with outstanding results. But there is something I just can't achieve or I don't know how to get it that is.... How can I put the USB xbox 360 receptor inside the case?

Well, actually that's not a big deal. I would just buy a PCI to USB conector and I would plug the receiver inside, and with some cable managment I could if it right there. The main problem is every time i have to pair a new controller i have to get access to the button... at least in windows. In SteamOS for some reason the controller just pairs automatically with the pc and it doesn't matter if it didn't pair up before. That's my issue, I need to know how to achieve that in Windows 10.

You may be asking Why would I ever want that receiver inside? Because it's freaking cable always gets broken. Since I brought my first ever xbox 360 controller with receiver for pc in 2011, I had to buy a chinesse generic receptor about... 4 times? I don't want to buy another receiver anymore. That's what i want that inside. It would be the same for the xbox one controller. It's receptor may not be cabled, but that stick it's pretty long enough to be broken in an accident while it is plugged. Iv'e seen videos of people almost teaching the receptor's anatomy and tweaking it to fit inside the receptor. But I think that plugged in directly to the motherboard via a PCI -> USB convertor it's better with programming an auto-detect configuration.

An alternate way would buy to buy two generic 2.4 Ghz gamepads with a tiny receiver like Logitech F710, SteeSeries Nimbus or Gamesir G4s. Since, it doesn't matter that they have the XInput protocol, since last year steam provided us a way to play any game with any controller. Anyway, for the gamepads I just mentioned, those receptors are also usb, but they are tiny enought to be unbreakable while they are sticked to an external usb (unless you accidentally step on them when they fall the case, wich is, unlikely). But they are expensive in my country (In Chile they cost something beetween 50.000 CLP wich is something like $84 US. Outstandingly expensive. Well, the gamesir one it's about $60 US here. The other thing that I don't know since the 99.99% of the youtube reviews only test just one controller paired in the pc, is I don't know witch controllers support multi conections or whose not. Ok, the xbox 360, the xbox one and SteelSeries Nimbus as a player number led from the first to the fourth, wich means, they have multi pair supported. But I don't know about, for exapmple, the logitech F710 one.

Complain n°2: (Optional)

This is like optional in fact. And it's something I just don't know. If I do a safe iGPU overclock, I could have 6-10 FPS more while playing at any settings.... that would be grea. But even the top quality low profile coolers like the noctua nhl9 won't keep the cpu cool in that tiny Morex 557 case. So the solution is a low profile water cooler radiator for the cpu. So, the shorter one that I found was the Corsair H5 low profile cooler. It's very low profile for being a radiator, but the problem it wont fit, because it is something like 9 cm tall and the morex one is no more than 7 cm tall. So I may need another case. The problem (whos not a problem in fact, it just escapes from my desires) is that that case was perfect because it is 20 cm x 20 cm and it will fit in my bag. However if I buy something like Cooler Master Elite 110. First of all, it wont fit in my bag since it's 28 x 26 x 21 cm. Second, in that king of case I can fit a dedicated GPU. And my project is to build the ultimate compact gaming pc. Not the "best graphic power/size" pc. I already achieve that with the silverstone. I want something smaller that can fit in my bag. And you may ask me: So why you just don't buy a laptop? The laptop it's not upgradable, it's case is plastic, it's pretty much expensive and you can't customize it. So I also won't buy a laptop

I hope you can help me with my project. If you can prove to me that you can pair more than one F710/G4s, or how can I write a code or download software to make the xbox receptor to detect automatically any xbox controller or a htpc mini itx case that can fit the 9 cm height Corsair H5 low profile CPU radiator I would be very thankfull. I would be actually very thankfull to you to hear this story project of a pc gamer.... actually a console gamer, who likes graphics and customization.

Thanks you and good luck
