Xbox One controller
Need help with the controller in steam, I have windows 8.1 and I want to use the bluetooth feature, and yes the controller work it does pair with my pc and I tried with a non steam game and it worked. PLZ help ASAP!!!!

I recommend upgrading your Window OS to Windows 10.

check steam controller settings
steam -> controller
general, bpm, desktop, chord

for games, right click on game and edit steam controller config
and game properties, make sure overlay is enabled and controller is enabled

Keep in mind that mainstream support for 8.1 has ended and extended support ends in 2023, so while you do have some time left the sooner you acclimate to Win10 the better.

If it works with a non steam game then u don't have steam configured correctly, simple as that.

Go to steam, bring up big picture mode and go to the controller settings and disable all those boxes except for generic. Click OK and detect the controller. Once seen ok, now exit BPM and then also Steam Client and restart the client, now play your games.

Thanks for all the help, it solved one part of the problem but yea, I will probably need to upgrade to win 10 to make use of the wireless feature oh well thanks once again and have a nice day all of you!

Seriously, why are you still on Win8. Should have just skipped it and been on Win10 since that came out in 2015

Just do a clean install of Win10 64bit. Make your own installer media using a usb flash drive ready to be wiped, and the MS media creation tool from the official Win10 website.

You can activate Win10 using your Win8.1 product key.

Yes yes I will upgrade to win 10 when I have the time for it, but in the meantime I'm forced to use it with the usb cable. Anyway thank you for your input as well, have a nice day/night/evening!
