Maybe an AI supporter?
Hi, I just wondering if you guys have such a plan to creat an AI supporter for steam like a virtual assistant which could help you to connect to your inf, your data and your gaming history etc. It will be cool if you guys could read this and create one virtual supporter for us players eg:this AI could tell you how much money you spent for these specific games and how many items you own for each game also items types.
Yours sincerely

You can already view your purchase history on Steam, via your name in the top right, followed by "account details" and then clicking on "purchase history". You can also filter items in your inventory by game.

Not sure how an AI assistant would be of more help, unless what I have said isn't what you're looking for.

Of all the things I would like Steam to do to improve the user experience, investing in an “AI supporter/assistant” isn’t even on the list.

AI’s already in so many places on the internet, I’d rather Steam’s interface stay AI free.

I can't wait for people to need an AI to explain how to open a door.

The future seems bright.

It was said decades ago, once AI becomes mainstream the human race will become dumber.

NO we do not need AI in steam or anywhere near steam.

I have not found a single use case where I've required the help of someone's AI assistant. I think the only time I've ever interacted with one is when Rufus first appeared on Amazon letting me know it was available and if I had any questions. I asked it to go away to which it replied it couldn't do that. Oh well. The one thing I needed and it couldn't do it.

You probably won't have to wait for much longer...

Like literally.
If you need Ai to check your account details...I don't even know what to say.

Makes sense. humans have been trying to outsource thinking for millenia.
We create alsorts of mental shortcuts and fallbacks to reduce the need for thinking.

Ofc I understand what you meant. But what I was thinking is an AI could answer your questions based on your date. Like when I need to check “how much money I put into COD MW3,and how much money for skins or a game pass. For CS,how much I spent on containers keys and how much spent on game passes. It’ll show each category of your game spending. Furthermore,it could tell you how many hours you’re spending on each game without you checking em on your profile again and again. Plus offer specific game data for you when you ask. Like one of my matches from my history games, let me know my rating,KDA etc. I wish I clarify my thoughts this time.

Yeh kinda stuck at similar situation. Sometimes these virtual assistants could be dumb and silly and they can’t really support what you need,or just misunderstand everything you throw 😂.
I wish Steam could build a wise bot for us to get our gaming data easily accessible without entering games every time

Well I got you bro lol. Just it’s hard to get some specific date and info in my country yk,as HLTV and stat ggs need vpn for us,it’ll be troublesome for us to check our game data and rating KDA etc. so that’s why I wondering if Valve could creat such a function to collect these simple date and make users easier to analyze their own games.

I respect your opinion, but also remember that AI is penetrating our daily life and make our lives easier and more convenient. It’s just a simple helper not even let it play my role in matches lol

So you want Valve to rent ChatGPT or similar to allow users to dynamically inquire data about their gaming?

Let's be real, Valve can't afford to build their own datacenters to have their own dedicated model for such a task, so renting is the only option. Valve is not the size of Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft or nVidia.

What's the return for Valve on renting such service for 100+ million of monthly active users?

A use case that not only burns a lot of cash for Valve, but also endangers the privacy of its customers as the AI will typically try to absorb this data to expand this model.

Do you really want Valve to sell our data to such services without our consent?

Because the big ones already burn billions upon billions of dollars for the insatiability of their LLMs and won't offer their services for free and Valve will also not foot the massive bill out of the goodness of their hearts.

Your words really make sense! It's true that Valve could not afford this… yeh it’ll be suffering for them to offer such a function for gamers. And you mentioned the rent, exactly,it’ll be super expensive. I was overestimating the scale of Steam servers, they could not be bigger than Google and other very popular social media apps. It’s a game platform so I was just wondering if they could support a convenient way for us to connect with our different game accounts and trade history, purchasing history etc.
anyways thanks for your replying,I realized it was not that easy😂!
