Most viciously run forum on the platform, imo.
Depending on the sentence, might be worth a ban.
If the DBD devs are doing such a bad job it'll kill the community and the game. Those are the consequences.
Valve isn't going to intervene or tell devs they can't manage their community, or otherwise cripple moderation by product owners.
You're very confused about the Valve + Dev relationship.
The issue is that I can't post anything at all from the game now unless I do some wacky ♥♥♥♥ lol. This affects my entire profile if I ever wanted to do something specific without malicious intent. I don't care about not being able to speak on the forums, but if I wanted to post a screenshot for people to see on MY profile, then I should be allowed to even if it doesn't get posted on the "community hub" Simply as that.
Stop breaking the rules and your 'problem' goes away
Yes, Valve support, I’ll be forever pissed you didn’t give me a refund for that toxic garbage heap of a “game” when I’d owned it for less than a week (and started playing during a free weekend).
Seriously, though-Steam does need to do something about subforum moderation if mods’ incredibly thin skin is stopping you (and others) from posting screenshots from a game that was paid for.
Nice try, but those rules don’t apply to subforums. Mods in subforums aren’t hired by Valve, have their own set of rules, and if they feel like being malicious (or are just in a bad mood) they will bend those rules to ban you.
Case in point: I’ve been active on internet forums for most of my life (millennial). The only forum bans I’ve ever received? A weeklong ban (for a ridiculous reason when I’d owned the game for less than a week) and a monthlong ban from the Dead by Daylight subforum here on Steam. No warnings prior-just bans. I’ve never received so much as a warning on any other forum in my entire life.
I didn't break any rules. DBD forums are notorious for being unjust and terribly moderated.
Why is there always someone like this who thinks every user is clearly the criminal when that isn't the case like.. majority of the time?
I swear, someone needs to start a topic “Post here if the only forum ban you’ve ever received was from the Dead by Daylight/another BHVR project’s forum.” I bet the number would be higher than most would think. Those mods/devs are truly ridiculous, IMO.
I for one am doing my part (even though I never got permabanned from the subforums). I stopped playing shortly before the FNAF chapter because I knew the upcoming changes were only going to further hurt solo-queue (and I was right-I never truly SWF’d), I didn’t like the increasing “Fortnitification” of the game, I hated Ghoul and didn’t want anything to do with the FNAF license being in the game AND my favorite killer was gutted then neglected for years. So I uninstalled, removed the game from my Steam library and haven’t touched it since. I wish more solo players who complain about having a miserable time while still booting up the game frequently would do the same.
I won’t be back unless a more competent (and far more open to criticism) company buys them out and gives the game the care it actually needs (even if it means putting the game in a bare-bones maintenance mode for several months-a year while listening to feedback from their entire consumer base-not just the most viewed content creators-and rebuilding the spaghetti code from scratch so something doesn’t break every patch), fixing all the glaring bugs and improving the anti-cheat while balancing the game around the quiet majority’s wants instead of the vocal minority’s wants.
They're quite literally the only place I've ever been banned from. No other forum is so quick to ban players over simple, non-offensive banter. No non-steam moderator should have the ability to permaban IMO.
Just wish Steam would decouple the hub at the very least and implement a better system.
Want to know how I got a perma? This is the best part. You see, someone created a thread to ask if they were playing with a cheater because the cheater was playing with a cosmetic that didn't seem to be in the game yet. I responded by saying that after looking it up, they were correct that the cosmetic was in the game files but not released yet, and I posted a twitter link showing that.
Guess what the moderators did? Deleted the thread, and then perma-banned me for "posting leaked content."
They're not going to do this, least of all because of the negative experiences of a handful of people over a handful of game hubs.
Please re-read the original post. I straight up do not care about being banned from the forums at all, make no mistake on this.
But receiving a ban on the forum carries over to the game's entire community hub which affects my ability to post screenshots if I so choose to, unless I do a workaround which I should not have to do...
Yeah, I've no doubt nothing will happen (it never does), but it doesn't hurt to at least try.
It's the same area of the same website. Valve isn't going to force moderators to play whack-a-mole. If someone gets banned from posting on the discussions tab of the hub, why shouldn't they also be banned from the other tabs (except for making reviews, because hub moderators can't touch that)
