Steam having a successful games platform may not make them the savior for every tech market people are unhappy with.

Reactos is a reimplementation of windows systems. Android os is literally a linux fork.

Android at this point is pretty much like what GZDoom is to the Doom world. An engine that just happen to run Doom content. It's pretty much a whole different OS at this point.

A Linux phone would be rather welcome given that Google is slowly, but surely, moving toward locking down the platform. Under the guise of security as always.

Give me a proper Linux phone. Not a budget IOS.

GZdoom is a good example of android, but not in the way you present it.(Also UZdoom is the new version) GZdoom modified zdoom, which in turn modified some prior early source ports. Each one developing a new features based on the structure of what existed before it. Just like linux did.

ReactOS is completely different. It's like remaking something based on how that original thing acts. It is not derived from windows in any way beyond the intended output.

It's like a cake. (G/U)Zdoom and android are like taking the recipe of a vanilla cake and turning it into a chocolate one, they are still cakes at their core but there is more to them.

ReactOS is like remaking a cake by analyzing one that they bought without the original recipe. Getting ever closer to something that resembles the original cake but probably is made with completely different ingredients.

Given how large the mobile market is. You don't need to hold half of it to be successful.

as someone who plays lots of mobile games it is almost a waste to play on a tablet now a days, big screen tv's look so good 4k is just amazing, please put down the stupid mobile and video game the right way people :D

Start by playing a proper game :D. Mobile games are, for the most part, a waste of time/money.

The special sauce I think Steam brings to this is just the potential to do everything you need to get it off the ground in a consumer-ready way. Hardware, operating system, app distribution.
