Idea: Custom Thread Settings
Would it be feasible for Steam to make it so that, when you post a thread to the forums, you can customize the thread to behave differently than normal?

For instance, a thread with a rule that doesn’t allow/only allows links, limits the number of embedded videos, limits the character count for a post, disables editing, consecutive post cooldowns, etc.

Do you think this would be a good idea?

A set of custom rules would be limited to a single post and if people didn’t like the rules it would just die from nobody using it, I figure.

Would probably also have to make it so that the ability to do this is turned off by default and toggleable by whoever manages the subforum/game hub (could probably also allow them to adjust the settings hub-wide if they wanted)

Ever since I can remember and have been using internet forums, I have always thought that the creator of a thread should have complete control over their own threads. That is, banning users from the thread, closing the thread, hiding it or, as you say... in general, having absolute control over their own thread. Obviously, such control could be modified or revoked by moderators and administrators, but nothing else. Unfortunately, this is something that will never happen.

I think being able to ban users from threads might be a bit too far but I was thinking about the threads where people are supposed to play a game or you want to stop a few people from dominating the thread or spamming videos you could curate for the intended experience rather than singling anyone out.
