Allow setting to hide currently played game on steam
Continued from https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/discussions/forum/10/3817410454867754317/?tscn=1764647385 - which was closed due to a recent post - which was not linked to and I can't find any evidence of - and this feature still doesn't exist. If there is a legitimate answer to this need and Valve wants to close this again - please actually LINK the post you're mentioning that resolves this so that interested parties can do whats necessary.

The current friends feature in steam mandates that you always share what game you're playing to all friends in the chat feature if you want to appear online. There is a privacy setting "Game Details", that disables this for chat, but ALSO hides all games on your account and breaks compatibility with third party game and achievement tracking platforms such as steamhunters, infinitebacklog, or steam calculator.

So if a user wants to, say, play an adult game, but NOT advertise it to everyone on their friends list (which may include minors), then the user has to

* Remember to log out of steam friends before staring said game
* Remember to disable the permission for showing what games they own
* Cannot use any third-party websites that need a way to list games on your account.

It would be great to have one or two nuanced options here, such as

* Never share my currently played game
* Never share games tagged 'adult'

You can just mark all of your adult games as “private” if that is your main issue. They shouldn’t show up to your friends at all (and also won’t show up on Steam Replay at the end of the year AFAIK) if you do that.

ETA: Just re-read your post and saw your concerns about compatibility with third-party achievement sites. Could you not private the games until you 100%-ed them/didn’t plan to play them again and then un-private them?

If someone is playing degenerate games and has friends on the platform that are minors the account should be permanently banned from interacting with other users. The last thing steam should be doing is catering to those sorts of people with ways to hide red flag behaviour.
