When will the tool for changing the account ID be released?
I don't want to have to create a new Steam account just because of an ID. 😔

Your login username cannot be changed.

Only the account owner (that's YOU) can see it anyway, so why care what it is?

I just typed a random username when registering for Steam back then, and now I'm not really satisfied with it. 😐 Well, if it can't be changed, then never mind.

Unfortunately, it's an issue with how the database was setup, and was discovered years ago when they tried to implement such a feature.
The last official word we have from Valve is that they are unable to offer account name change as a feature because they cannot get all the issues with ownership verification resolved; you wouldn't want hackers to rename an account so the original owner can NEVER reclaim it. They were working on resolving the Steam database stuff years ago and it is quite possible they figured that out. From what it sounds, it's not likely they're going to get a solution in play any time soon.
Well the only ones who can give a definitive answer on that is probably support

Or that such a solution will be easily accessible to the general public. They probably want to add friction to avoid people wanting to change their usernames as they change underwear because reasons.

The irony here being an indefinite supply of unused HL2 packaged steam accounts are still for sale on secondary (black) markets.

As if, Valve has some kind of handle on the amount of constant fraud harming the integrity of their provided gaming experience.

None of that has anything to do with not being able to change your login username.

And you should never trust scam sites that sell accounts.
The original owner of the account can recover it at any time, leaving you without the money you payed.

Most have the included original email, so you can secure all of it.

They tell you to not open a steam support request nor add money to the account for 3 months or something as it eventually starts tracking the new IP login.

At some point, the account loses its "NFA" status or "not full access" and gains full access. Add money, buy skins, cheat and say "i have a ten year badge" to gaslight people after you get called out.

All in a days work for the repeat offender community that bloat the game with multi-accounts and mess up actual trust factor.

BTW: before I get accused of doing this, understand my 21 year account doesn't have the status it should because anyone can get access to them. All of the information in my post is open source.

There is no account trust factor outside of what exists inside a game.
And that is on a per game basis, the trust rating in one game has no effect on the trust rating on another game.

And none of that has anything to do with being able to change your login username on Steam.

On TF's own little blurb, it says your play time in other titles affects it. Doesn't it?

That's behavior outside of the game affecting TF.

Precisely, it will almost certainly be kept for the exceptional cases.

Trust factor has NOTHING TO DO WITH CHANGING YOUR LOGIN USERNAME.

Take your trust factor rant to the proper game forum.
It has no bearing on this thread.

You brought up something that is easily proven wrong.

Sorry you feel so offended you had to bust out caps locks.
