I want to be shown more games that I will actually like
I feel like Steam's recommendation system is very lacking, despite the interactive recommender, discovery queue, and new calendar.

Sorry the best Valve can do is try to show you the same just released top seller games that you already scrolled past ads for on the top of the catalog and saw in the first entry on the new selling and top selling charts. Valve's algorithm programming skill can do no better.
