Im not against it but there is something i dont understand.
If drm free is so important to you why would you even consider buying a game on Steam if its available on GoG?

GoGs whole selling point is drm free the chance of them changing it in the future is low.
On Steam devs can add any kind of drm at any point.

If i would care about drm i would only buy at GoG or any other Store thats drm free.

A few games were discounted cheaper on steam as the main reason. If DRM were added sometime in the future it wouldn't affect original copies I create

That disclosure is up to the developer. It's not an important detail to Valve, otherwise they would highlight it already.

Because even people who care about drm are not willing to take any inconvenience (like paying a bit more or not buying games with drm at all) to force the dev/pub to change it.

I mean its hilarious that many of GOG's 'drm free' games are literally just pirated versions of games since they don't have access to the source code to fix any DRM built into older games

In any case it has to be repeated:

Steam is not DRM

Steam does not enforce DRM

A dev can implement 100% of all Steamworks features (achievements, multiplayer, matchmaking, workshop, etc) and be 100% DRM free. For anyone who claims this is impossible, maybe they missed a 'tiny' game no one has ever heard of. Baldurs Gate 3. Has every steamworks feature under the sun, and is 100% drm free. Note every Larian game all the way back to Dragon Commander works this way.

People are free to go complain to developers about how they implement Steamworks. But neither Steam nor Steamworks are required to play games on Steam unless the developer makes it that way.
