I use Bazzite on my living room theater PC as my main gaming system, and have been for about the past three-ish years. Wayyyyyy before the Steam Machine was announced (I'm so hyped lol definitely considering buying it just to have one lol).

Unfortunately my wife and I both use the system as a living room console, and there are times when she want's to play, and times when I want to play. So I'd really like to see a feature where if the system is put into sleep mode and there is no game running, show the login screen again. Currently steam has an option to ask which account to use when the machine powers on for the first time / when steam launches for the first time, but due to my unique config starting the system up from completely off state comes with quite a few trade offs. The biggest downside for my setup is the time it takes the system to boot. It is MUCH faster to wake from sleep than to power on. Also in order to use my Bluetooth controllers to wake the system, it needs to be in sleep mode, it doesn't work from a powered off state.

My current work around is to tap into the systemd wake from sleep units to essentially trigger something like "steamos-session-select", which forces SDDM to restart the gamescope session. This successfully triggers the user login prompt for the steam client. However, this work around has a HUGE downside. It directly conflicts with Valve's new download screen off mode, as well as preventing me from putting the system to sleep while a game is running. The reason being that if the system is put to sleep, when it then wakes up my "fix / workaround" kicks in, which kills the current gamescope session where my running game lives! So no quick resume for games (as well as potential data loss if I hadn't saved. Yikes!).....

For now, I've simply stuck with my automated system wake timers (to allow steam to do its game updates when I'm not playing) as a temporary work around, disabled the new downloads screen off feature, and finally being very careful to never put the system to sleep if I am doing something like playing a game. haha

TLDR; I'd like to see an option in the steam client where if the system is put to sleep while no steam app is running, then the next time it wakes prompt which account to use after waking from sleep. I think this would also work well for multi user setups that the Steam Machine would likely be used in.
