"Neutral" ratings for games and software
Hello there,
Like many others, I would appreciate it if game reviews could also be rated "neutral" instead of just "positive" or "negative." Especially with newer games like BF6, many people write, "I would say neutral, but I can only give negative or positive," and these ratings are often negative and distort the results, in my opinion.

What do you think?

I think a neutral review is completely worthless to me if I am interested in a game.

"do you recommend it?"

"meh"

Isnt helpful.

You're never being asked to give a positive or negative rating. You are asked a simple question. Do you recommend the game? It's a yes or no answer. If you can't emphatically answer yes, then your answer is no.

It's not a distortion. It's simply the truth m8. At the end of the day they could not honestly recommend the game so the only honest answer is no. If they were actually neutral...they wouldn't be writing a review.

If you are not saying yes to a yes or no answer, then you are saying no.

A shrugging of the shoulders does not help people looking to buy something.

If you want to make informative reviews, start a curator group.

I'd rather see if someone likes or dislikes the game, and then decide if their reasoning applies to my interests. Neutral doesn't help me. If your opinion is neutral, then it's best not to write a review.
You both know exactly what was meant by that example and yes it does apply here.

Steam is not asking you to write a games journo worthy review, you're not going up on IGN. They ask you a basic yes or no. 'Would you recommend this game to others?'

"Iunno, maybe?" Does not answer that question. And before someone trots it out, no your single review doesn't mean ♥♥♥♥ to the average game. Deflate your ego if you honestly think that you leaving a personal, 'I don't like this', on a game will ruin it or actually affect it noticeably at all.
Read the thousands of other threads suggesting this and the replies explaining why it's a terrible idea.
You know you don't HAVE to rate games or software .... that's neutral enough for me

You are asked a question: Would you recommend this game to other players and the answer is either yes or no. In the text box you explain why.

Neutral is a shrug of the shoulders and defaults to no.

I see better reviews here than on IGN honestly
And yeah/ IO think its more that people are affraid of getting backlash if they voice the 'wrong' opinion.

If only there was a way to turn off comments on our reviews.... oh wait!
