Sort by most recently updated should already be a thing in the Steam Library
It’s surprising that Steam still doesn’t let us sort games by their last update date. With big libraries, it’s hard to know which games just got patches or new content without manually checking each one.
A sort by most recently updated option would make it easier to keep track of active projects and return to games that are still being worked on. It would also help surface titles that are actually maintained, instead of older, abandoned ones.
Simple idea, but it could make browsing the Library a lot more useful.

You can also follow the games you care about. I'm not 100% sure because I don't use that feature. But following the game should notify you of news, often updates of a game.

Not ideal and your idea has merit. But until it is done, maybe try this?

Have a good day.

Your logic makes perfect sense, and I actually do that for some of the games I care about the most. But it’s not really a replacement for this. Besides, not every update comes with patch notes or a news post.
