Mostly because I use a tiling window manager with the systemtray disabled. (It looks better to me.)
I don't exactly mind having to close it via the menu. But, it would be nice if there was a toggle that closes the client completely when the window is closed.
The problem, however, is that this and all other proposals have been made repeatedly over the years. This forum is just for show, to create the appearance of engagement and at the same time to make the community believe that they have a say.
The actual problem, and the reality is. That while there is a lot of ideas thrown in here. Only a fraction of them are worth considering. And from that fraction, only a fraction of it is actually implemented because not every good ideas is "good enough" for huge corporations. You know how it is.
The community do have a say, to an extend. But, valve has the final say.
Good luck to anyone willing to put up with the sad losers elsewhere online, should you try and find some way to force this closing down steam through X button behavior. Just swaths of threads with people offering nothing, whilst trying to be all smart with claims of it taking them nanoseconds to click the Exit button.
