You can change the size yourself:

Steam -> Settings -> Accessibility -> UI scale (slide it up or down to your preference)

Hate this new width everything is so zoomed in when i click on a game, cant find a way to change it back to the original

I like it this way. I already have my zoom set to 120% for all pages by default cause I use a 40 inch TV as my monitor. Makes it easier to see things, but certain elements on Steam were still the same so it didn't help much there.

Steam has gone through it already several times. It won't happen.

Steam already supports multiple resolution types so this should be easy.

That's kind of funny. I used my web browser to override Steam's stupid stylesheet a while ago to make it wider. You could do the reverse if you really wanted to, but I can't imagine making it narrower. See this post for details on how I did it.

What's better is that we've seen plenty of suggestions asking to make better use of the space. Now that they are, here come the other half wanting to go back.
