MAKE IT SO YOU CAN'T INSTANTLY LEAVE A DISCUSSION FORUM ON MOBILE
It's so freaking easy to accidentally leave a discussion forum on mobile. Specifically, the notification button is VERY easy to push while typing. Once you accidentally tap anything, you instantly leave the forum and ALL your text is discarded. Hitting the back button doesn't bring you back, and like I said, even if you go back to the same discission forum, all your text is gone. I was about to break my phone or punch a hole in the wall when I lost 10 paragraphs due to clicking the notification button.

1. THERE SHOULD BE A PROMPT ("ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO LEAVE?") THAT KEEPS YOU FROM INSTANTLY LEAVING DISCUSSIONS IF YOU ACTIVILY HAVE TEXT IN THE 'NEW DISCUSSION' PAGE.

2. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE THE BACK BUTTON TO NATIVIGATE BACK TO THE DISCUSSION FORUM YOU WERE ON AND THE TEXT SHOULD BE SAVED.

Uh its not 'easy' to leave a discussion on mobile? If you're typing out a post basically all the navigation options are gone from wherever you'd be typing. Everything around the "Post Comment" button doesn't switch contexts either. I'm not clear how you're even doing this 'by accident'.

also if you use the back button and then use the forward button, your stuff is maintained in the post. Even if you somehow mis-tap a link, if you go back, your post is again maintained. I just tried this on iOS in both Safari and Chrome and it keeps your post intact even if you navigate away from the page.

THAT'S NOT THE CASE FOR THE ANDROID APP. When you start a new discussion, the bottom bar with the notifications button and etc. moves on top of the keyboard when it's opened. The suggested words on the keyboard are literally right next to the bottom bar, which has 5 buttons. If you're off by a tiny bit, you will tap one of those buttons. TAPPING ANY OF THE BUTTONS ON THE BOTTOM BAR WILL INSTANTLY NAVIGATE YOU AWAY AND YOU LOSE ALL YOUR TEXT ON THE APP. ARE WE CLEAR???

Why are you using a browser, dummy? Most people on mobile are using the APP. For android, all URLs from Google and etc. that link to Steam are automatically opened up the app by default.
I agree with OP. I don't do that mistake often. But, when I'm typing a long post and it actually happens.... oh oh oh it isn't fun.

The longer the post, the more likely you'll use suggested words / phrases. And people usually type faster when making multiple paragraphs, which can throw your coordination off. All of the above makes it more likely for you to accidentally tap one of the buttons on the Steam app's bottom bar. As shown in my screenshot, the suggested words bar on the keyboard is literally right next to the bottom bar.
Extremely talented and high quality app and OS developers at Valve and Google in a modern age of software design where everyone is definitely getting smarter: "Yes it IS a normal use case for people to go from typing on the virtual keyboard to hitting the system buttons on the bottom at the same cadence as they were typing. The user ALWAYS intends these actions and no timeout or safety function is EVER required."
I mean I guess just use a browser on your phone instead for now?
