Valve please
Cheating rats are destroying all multiplayer games.
Use your big money to contract government involvement.

I'm anti-political and don't usually lean into things like this, but I'm beyond tired of being robbed for time/money investment as well as the ability to unwind with games.
Every single game with a multiplayer feature is being DESTROYED by this rat community that obsesses with their ego, satiating their lack of skill with cheats.

We need them to be punished.
The risk has to outweigh the reward, that is the ONLY means for a solution.

Government involvement could seat fines being implemented, and this would be easily achieved - force region locks to server access to navigate the legal landscape of different countries, and for the USA as an example, tie account creation to SSN.
This would mean there is no "alt account" escape method, if you create the account and it goes live with server access for multiplayer games, it has to be tied to SSN.
This would create an ease of access to tracking these rats down and properly implementing the fine where fit.
Create legal avenues where you and the fed both profit, and they'll go for it without hesitation. They can't help themselves when it comes to money.

The people who say ignorant things like "I dont want my SSN tied to my steam account" can be easily ignored, considering their SSN is already available through platforms like this the moment they spend money on them. You've got to give banks your SSN, and even if they're a strictly steam points card purchaser, it doesn't matter. This is the only viable solution.

You could make the fines absurd, to further deter people from participating in the rat behavior.
Having the legal route for minors would be simple, too - their parents would need to authenticate access to M rated titles, and thus accept responsibility if theyre found to be cheating rats.
This would also encourage more parental involvement with kids online, which is a net positive in itself.

I'm not usually one for advocating further government overreach, but enough is enough. Anti-cheat doesnt work anymore when there are hardware solutions now days to circumvent all software implementations.

Make cheating rats see fines of 250k, similar to what is seen if someone is caught recording a movie for redistribution, and the risk then outweighs the rewards vastly enough that this rat epidemic comes to a swift closure.

No Government

If Valve just charged $100 bucks to open an account the majority of this problem would be solved. That and insta account deletion, if proved guilty! No more of this slap on the wrist hub bans vacations.
Banks do not share your SSN with Valve.... Not sure where you got that idea from? Valve is not going to kill their business as they know full well 99% of their user base is not going to hand a game store their SSN. No user base = no money = no Steam.

Cheating is not illegal and the government could care less about it. Valve's money is not going to change that.

Cheating has been and always will be a thing.

Thank god i know Valve is not dumb enough to do something like this.
Yea just convince every country in the world to force fines on people and to allow valve to process sensitive information.

Sure, totally doable and realistic
Government fines, huh? For cheating in a casual video game.

Seek help and support.
Valve isn't allowed to ask me that nor do they have it via other means.

Get real, OP.

Getting government involved in more & more things tends to erode freedoms and cause more cost to everything it touches. Anticheats improve, cheat creators make another cheat, anticheat gets another update. It's a constant battle. If you want things to improve, get the multiplayer cheat creators to be acted on to the point it's not worth the risk.
Luckily, Valve realizes much better than the OP does that any automated anti-cheat systems may make errors. Making people pay with money if the system errored so far works fine. But issuing ‘life sentences’ to real persons may suddenly cause more unrest and lawsuits.
This entire base premise doesn’t work because cheating isn’t illegal so the government can’t fine you for it.
