Turn off friend requests or a blocking mechanism for it seems simple enough as I dont want anymore friends and lately there has been a spate of them never head of these peoples.

That would be cool. What would be more cool is creating custom filters. That way I would make a filter that insta-ignores lvl 10 / private inventory / plays only free games - scammers.

Instead of turning off friend requests completely, I would like to have an option that requires people to type in a short message about how they know me in real life, which will appear with the friend request. Then I can decide whether to accept or not. I do have actual friends that I'd like to add to my list, but there's currently no way to know who somebody is unless they tell me outside of Steam, and not everybody thinks to tell me outside of Steam to look for a friend request within Steam.
