Steam library cleanup
Can we have an option to cleanly remove superseded games?

I know some may like to collect old games, but I personally would like to ability to remove entirely from my account obsolete games. Presently, the attempted removal of the obsolete version may end up removing the functional replacement copy.

I want to be clear here, I am not suggesting the automatic removal of a game. I am requesting a feature where it is available for a user to remove a game that is obsolete or superseded without risking the functional copy they have in their account.

Some games were rendered obsolete because they were reliant on old software such as Games for Windows Live (Company of Heros, Dirt, etc) and a new version had been released to remove such reliance. Instead of coming out as a patch we ended up with two copies. Other entries in the steam library may be obsolete because a Beta option was not available at the time and users ended up with 'Beta' entry. I believe Arma has a 'Beta - Obsolete' entry the game tab.

Some games are superseded by a remastered version. Such as Skyrim, Bioshock, Mafia, Crysis, Metro, Deus Ex Human Rev etc etc. Now we have many different versions of the same game. One being clearly superior than the others. I can appreciate some may not wish to remove the legacy version of a remaster incase the new version is buggy, so this should not be an automated thing. I myself know, that if I have a game that has been remastered and it works bug free, I'll never install the older version and will be happy for the clutter to be removed.

Some games, from a pre-DLC tab era have additional entries, that should be in the DLC tab. Fear for instance has 2 DLC's Extraction Point, and Perseus Mandate. Overlord also has a DLC that exists as its own entry. The FEAR DLC's can be run as their own exe, so they will require steam to prompt the user querying which one they want executed. Overlord however, has a DLC taking up a Library slot on its own, and is not stand alone, should simply be moved into the DLC tab.

I love the direction Steam is going. Pro Linux, getting into the Console space.

Now is the time to allow us to take a bit of pride in our game collections and tidy it up a bit. Especially older entries that aren't as functional as newer entries.

It gets put in another pile of games to get lost in.
If there is a game I know, with 100 percent certainty, is no longer functional. I'd want it removed, not pushed aside.

Choose the game and click "i want to permanently remove this game from my account" (dont worry as you can always revert your decision later)

Doesn't quite work. For instance Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead has an additional entry 'Arm 2 Operation Arrowhead Beta (Obsolete)'. Literally says obsolete in the name. This entry doesn't show in that system. I can only remove Operation Arrowhead. These are the sorts of entries I'd like to declutter. Often the removal of an item via that method will also remove its associated entry that may not be obsolete garbage.

You're just gonna have to put the game in the hidden folder and turn your OCD down to like a two.
