I'd rather see it other way around, if you block someone they can't see your posts/topics
a block should stop you seeing them, and them seeing you.
but if that is what you want i am all for it if it can feasibly be done
how would quotes be handled and all that
it would make for a weird experience in some threads if it worked, though
This would be ideal in my book.
Block someone and then post in all threads to prevent that user from being able to post in any threads.
Simply have the self control to not hit the "SHOW" button that appears on blocked users posts/threads.
That said, it's not about 'self-control.' It's about not having certain people pester you when they figure out you've blocked them. Lack of self-control usually stems from an individual who is blocked. Some people are vengeful when you don't give them the attention they crave. So, I'd like to remove those people from my Steam experience.
Harsh, perhaps, but honest.
It's not your decision at all, because once you post the thread, it becomes public for everyone.
Valve doesn't want echo chambers here, neither do most people.
The most sensible improvement to the current block system would be for quoted replies of blocked users to not show at all and for there to be no option to show the message from a blocked user.
There is no reason for them to not be allowed to comment on threads you make, because they may not replying to you, but still discussing the topic with others.
Unless the suggestion hits too close to home.
that is when you start your own group
or blog
or keep it to your profile
the boards here are not yours and neither are the threads
I don't believe that's too much of an ask.
In fact, if the suggestion is used, they won't even know they're missing out.
