Please don't have prescription limits for prescription lens inserts for Steam Frame
Some VR headsets have limitations on your prescriptions for prescription lens inserts... please don't have any limits like that for Steam Frame.

(And yeah, some VR headsets and lenses limit the range of prescriptions you can get lenses for them... Meta being the example - if you're using the Zenni brand lenses)

I'm still surprised no VR headset maker has found a way for users to input their prescription and have it modify the image to compensate. Sure that'd have a performance hit but I'm sure a lot of user that wear glasses wouldn't mind it, to a degree

You say this like the limits were decided arbitrarily or something. What if extreme vision issues just make it challenging to accommodate under. I'm sure they try to include as many people as possible.

Thats an impossible ask. Some prescriptions combined with how close to the face the headsets is going to preclude people simply based upon light physics, point of focus, and so on.

That would be a really good solution. Probably not possible for EVERYONE but that really does sound like quite a useful feature for such hardware were the software to exist.

Well, let me just say... when I tried getting prescription lenses for the Quest 3 from Zenni, they had a limit on how big your prescription could be that none of the other VR prescription lens makers had. So if the limit is not arbitrary, why do some have it and others don't?

And Zenni was the ones officially endorsed by Meta...

If Valve opens up the market to third party prescription lens solutions it probably solves this problem, because that was the case with Quest 3. I basically just had to buy from someone other than Zenni because my prescription was too large for Zenni but not for the other prescription lens providers.

The same reasons any two "similar" products have differences. They're different and they have made different decisions. As for any businesses specific decisions, take it up with that business.

Also you said "some", but now it kinda seems like you mean one. And by one you mean it's not the limit of the hardware itself but the limits of one specific 3rd party company. So that's all pretty sloppy phrasing. And not even a problem because you went with another lens maker's lenses.

Valve would have no input in the decisions of 3rd party manufacturers and what they're willing to support. So.... don't buy Zenni lenses for your Steam Frame. Problem solved.

That would be a question for Zenni, but some prescriptions take more work then others, require more specific tools for the cutting of the lens, etc. So they might not have been equipped to produce anything beyond a certain range.

No one can tell you why they are limited in their selection, you'd have to ask them. It also might be as simple as they decided to only deal with a common range and didn't want to deal with more extreme prescriptions.

Since Valve is working on a solution for prescription lenses for the STeam Frame VR headset, I am in fact "taking it up with that business" as you say, by posting my request here.
