That said, I wouldn't mind additional options for authentication, all I am saying is that the situation ain't that bad if your "papers" are in order.
What a condescending reply. I'm sorry you can't fathom someone having a damaged device or somehow losing their phone. And by the way I still have every phone I've ever purchased so you're somehow more clumsy than me, and I happen to leave my house every day and experience real world scenarios. For my situation my storages were reset on my Android phone apps many years ago on applications I didn't use for five years. Also if Valve has to accommodate situations like this because their proprietary software is vulnerable to damaged or lost phones, then how is that possibly more secure than standardized synced TOTP solutions with Google or Microsoft?
I'd rather trust something with an NSA/GCHQ/etc accreditation than software written by in-house devs from a video game storefront both in terms of availability and security.
