Store - Game Accessibility Features: Keyboard Remapping
Steam Store Accessibility Feature Suggestion: Rebindable Controls

Steam has made great progress in highlighting accessibility features on the store, including searchable tags for users to find games that support their needs.
(See: https://psteamhelp.yuanyoumao.com/en/faqs/view/02F5-ACB2-6038-0F36 )

However, a growing number of games ship with hard programmed keyboard and mouse controls with no ability to rebind keys. This creates a serious accessibility issue for:

  • Left-handed players
  • Players with motor disabilities
  • Users with alternate keyboard layouts (e.g. Dvorak, AZERTY, etc.)

While third-party remapping tools can sometimes help, some games block these due to anti-cheat systems. As a result, the only remaining option is often to refund the game because it cannot be played.

Proposal: Add new Accessibility Input tags to the Steam Store

Under the Input accessibility category, please include the following features:

  • All Keys Rebindable

  • Some Keys Rebindable

These indicators would allow players to make informed purchasing decisions and encourage developers to adopt more inclusive control options.

This small addition would have a big impact on accessibility and reduce unnecessary refunds due to unplayable control schemes.

Thank you for your consideration!

If you want supported keymaps, contact the devs of the game.
They are the ones who pick what keys do what for their game.

I think you are missing the point of the OP. They are not asking for rebindable keys to be added to games- they are asking that games that have them have that added as an Accessibility Feature on the store page since it currently is not an option for devs/publishers to add to their store page according to the Steamworks Documentation article on it: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/accessibility_features. Only "Mouse Only" and "Keyboard Only" are options, while "Rebindable Keys" or "Rebindable Controller Inputs" are not.

I agree with the OP- this would be a nice thing to have added as an Accessibility Feature on Store pages. Not everyone wants or needs to rebind keys or buttons for accessibility, but some people do. And making it easier for those people to find games that have that feature would be quite helpful.
