Implement AI into steam chats and usernames to do more about scammers.
Anyone who gone onto reddit has seen steam scams the 1000s of post of people claiming to accidently report there account and to reach out to x every single day

To a normal person it should be blatantly clear its a scam why would Steam ask people to add someone specially on a third party software

I feel like AI could definitely be useful to detect people using the same lame story to scam people and to notify the innocent user of a potential scam attempt even if AI flagged some conversation incorrectly at least the person wouldnt fall for such scams.

Not to mention all the scammers have steam admin/support in there name should easily be detected imo.

I think more can be done to stop so many scammers out there trying to impersonate steam admins and the ridiculous same script they use everytime I still dont understand how people fall for it.

You don't need AI for that. Steam already has plenty warnings to help people not to get scammed. However neither warnings nor AI can help people from themselves.

People will ignore AI warnings just like they ignore regular ones because they decided to believe whatever convoluted story the scammer told them to not pay attention to those warnings.

There is no way to reliably protect users from themselves, when they keep ignoring all the warnings, even AI won't be able to protect you from yourself.
Terrible idea. I would much rather Steam sticks with real people thanks very much.

Id rather people reap the reward of their poor decisions than we implement the BB bot.

I dont want to have some pesky AI scan all my chats.

Besides if somebody is gullible they will be scammed either way, the only thing it will shift from asking on steam to asking on discord/teamspeak/voice chat/whatever

It wouldn't need to even leave Steam, scammers can and will find ways to get around any kind of AI filter or scan in chats.

Mind most scams these days originate on Discord.
