Hide comment section on profile without having to delete existing comments.

Please allow us to make it private or friends only, not just who can comment.

Thats why we have messsenger / chat can be private and for friends only.
When posting in public forums game discussions you cant have it both ways.
If you dont like a response report it.

As long as we are talking about comments on our own profiles, I would agree with you that there should be an option to set it to friends only

You want private chat. The comment box is not made for conversations and such. It's just a place for people to leave a quick note, such as "Good game".

Your profile is private.

No one can comment and only friends can comment if you set it to friends only.
