There might be some hardware incompatibilities with linux, but it will still be the case if steamOS is released for PC--there's no way to fully support every single configuration.
In fact ive spent the whole day yesterday using Bazzite and unfortunately, that one has already big bugs using the Installer too.
But ive made my way through yesterday and hopefuly i can start gaming today.
Like for some reason those btrs filesystems cause massive issues, the installer wouldnt remove previous buggy installations and require to select any drive with bootfiles on it, while not properly formatting any of those and then merge all SSDs into one.
Had massive issues with it and had to use bash the very first time in order to correctly format all drives and remove the filesystem locks lol.
Either way i was immediately attracted to Bazzite, in fact i was so heavily attracted that i made myself go through those bugs for 12 hours straight and learn how it works and removed Windows completly.
The whole UI design etc is just gold and if Proton doesnt freak out due to secureboot install or broken spread out OS installs, then they just seem to work amazing.
What i did not like is that Steamapp isnt communicative about Proton, like requiring a restart otherwise you could hit play and the game wouldnt start up and play button immediately comes back green.
Things like that arent exactly userfriendly
Let alone Counter Strike 2 has superior audio on Linux than on Windows.
No sounds get lost during gunfire and directional audio quality is on pair with windows XP.
Like why does nobody talk about all that.
Linux is superior let alone because of audio for gaming.
No stupid soundlags, no cut out from sounds beeing overwritten by other sounds
