Game performance user benchmarks / reviews
Just a thought.

Maybe having separate review system where users could share game performance stats would be nice. The stats should be be tied to basic hardware config (OS, gpu, cpu, ram and storage type, resolution). Results could be displayed as-is or filtered by the same (or closest) configuration that user device has.

The benchmark can be manual, but supported by devs to be measures/submitted automatically (user still has control to edit, so devs can't just lie).

I think this would be a nice feature, because most of steam is stuck on ~7-10 year old hardware (or comparable models of newer hardware), and performance oriented reviews often dilute the score with rating that is completely irrelevant on modern hardware.

If it's automated, publishers (more specifically, Randy) also lose the excuse of "it runs fine on new hardware" or get vindicated.

Already sites for this and pretty much the problem with benchmarkls is that you have to make A LOT of assumptions about the user doing the benchmarking.

That is true about most benchmarks, and also true about regular reviews.

I still think it would be a useful baseline to have right next to (but separate from) a score that could be dedicated to actual game and not performance.
